OCHA Colombia Presentation - January 26,
Jeffrey Villaveces, Information Management Officer at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Colombia, will give an overview of the UN Cluster System and their current work in Colombia. This presentation is offered exclusively to volunteers of the standbytaskforce.com. The presentation is scheduled for 2pm EST on Wednesday, January 26th. OCHA will give a 20 minute overview which will be followed by a 20 minute Q&A session.
SHARE Conference - April 7-9
Jaroslav Valuch, Anahi Ayala Iacucci and Helena Puig Larrauri present the standbytaskforce.com. The presentation will introduce briefly past Crisis Mapping deployments, how the idea of the SBTF came about and the very fists SBTf deployments: Sudan, the Ocha Colombia Simulation and the the Libya deployment.
ICCM - November 14-15
Helena Puig Larrauri will talk about the Libya Crisis Map in collaboration with UNOCHA to improve OCHA’s situational awareness of the emerging humanitarian crisis situation in Libya after the rise of protests and consequent violent crackdown by the Libya security forces. This talk will explain how the Libya Crisis Map came about and how lessons learned from this experience can inform future collaboration between volunteer live mappers and the UN.
